Increase Website Traffic Using Google Analytics

Increase website traffic starting today. Using Google analytics to analyze the traffic you already get can help you increase the number of visitors going to your website. By analyzing your existing traffic, you will see what visitors are doing on your website and how they got there. Knowing these things will give you an idea of what works so that you can do more of that and what doesn't work so you can eliminate those techniques from your toolbox.

What is Google Analytics?

Google analytics is a tiny piece of code that sits on your website (you can’t see the code but Google can) and it tells google what has happened on your website.

Why You Should Track Your Stats

In my opinion, tracking your website’s statistics is a must! Here are some reasons why:

  • Know who your audience is.
    • Are your visitors new or returning? By knowing the answer to this question, you can create content directed at them.
    • What language do they speak? If you see that a large part of your traffic is speaks Spanish, you may want to translate your existing web pages into that language.
    • What browser is your traffic using? If most of your traffic is using Google Chrome to visit you and your website has a problem rendering correctly in that browser, you have a problem.
    • Are people using a mobile device to visit your site?
  • Know where your website traffic comes from.
    • Are they coming to your site directly, using a search engine, or are they coming from another website?
    • If your traffic is coming from another site, which site and how many visitors do they bring you
  • Know what your audience is doing once they reach your website.
  • What pages is your web traffic reading? Is there a particular type of article that gets more traffic than others? Use these numbers to give you a clue as to what your audience wants to see.
  • How long are they staying on a particular page? By knowing this, you can judge if people are actually absorbing your content or not.
  • Track your traffic in real time.
    • Would you like to know if Twitter is actually working? Post a tweet and watch your traffic in real time.

Make Google do Your Work for You

As you can see there are multiple things that you can track on your website. But if you don’t install Google Analytics on your site, you will be left in the dark. As a business owner, it’s not good to be in the dark. I see websites everyday that don't have a way to track their traffic. In my book that's a huge NO-NO. Let Google help you increase your traffic starting today.
