Reach Your Online Marketing Goals With Website Design

Most people who provide website design services only care about how a website looks but “good looking” website design is not the same as “high performance” web design. How do you know if your website is a high performer? First let’s discuss what your online marketing goals should be.

3 Online Marketing Goals

  1. Attract and Engage your target audience. The first thing any business owner wants is people to share their product or service with. Your website needs to be able to attract visitors to it. Once someone lands on your website, you need to grab their attention and get them to take a look around. This is called engagement.
  2. Nurture and Convert your website traffic. The second thing every business owner wants is for people to buy their product or service. Getting people to take the action to make a purchase is called conversion. The problem comes in when you understand that only about 4% of people on the internet are ready to make a purchase. If you want to be able to capture even a portion of the other 96%, you are going to need to nurture a relationship with your audience.
  3. Measure and Improve your marketing efforts. The best of the best all have one thing in common; they measure their results and try to improve them.

Okay those are your goals for marketing your business online. Actually, your goals for any marketing campaign should be to Attract, Convert, and Measure. Now let’s talk about what it takes to get that done.

Here are three things you can look at to determine if your website will function for your business:

  1. Are you getting traffic? If not, why not? You can increase your website traffic by use using; search engine optimization, online advertising, social media, and even offline advertising.
  2. Are people taking action? If not, why not? Do you have a Call-to-Action? Take a look at your website and ask yourself, “What do I want people to do when they land on my website”. Once you have that answer, put it on your website. If you want them to call, tell them to call. Don’t just put a phone number there and assume they know to call. You know what they say about people who ASSUME.
  3. Do you know your numbers? If you answered know to the first two questions (Are you getting traffic? – Are people taking action?), then get some kind of analytics installed on your website so you will know. You can’t improve what you don’t measure.

Marketing is an ongoing process, not a one-time thing and all marketing (online and offline) is a test until you see some results. Once you get some results, test some more, so you can get better results. You should always be trying to improve on your results.

Obviously, there’s a lot more to building your online presence than I covered today, but I hope this helps. If you would like more help, schedule a complimentary Website Strategy Session.
